Brent's Deployment Party

Brent left for Iraq in June. It was and still is a bittersweet feeling. I am so proud of him and his willingness to volunteer to go, but the selfish side of me wants him safe and sound at home. If I feel that way, I can only imagine how my mother feels. I know it's not easy for her, but he calls home and chats online often. Hopefully, he'll get to come home for a visit in January!

Playing Catch Up!!

I haven't posted all summer, so I have a lot of catching up to do on my blog. Honestly, I usually post pics of Facebook because it is so much easier, and I forget to update pics on here, too. Will's birthday is the reason I'm going to catch up, but before I can blog about his 6th birthday, I've got to backtrack and chronicle our summer or the blog would be all out of order and my OCD would kick into high gear! So bear with me as I write a VERY LONG post!

High Winds...

...can cause some damage

I was looking out my kitchen window when I heard the wind picking up just in time to see the trampoline fly from the backyard over our house. It ended up crammed into our neighbor's garage door.

Will and Jake

Cheryl Mauldin met Billy and I at the golf course to take some pics of Will and Jake. Jake decided early on that he didn't want to have any part of it. (Have I mentioned we are definitely in the midst of the "terrible twos"?) Billy and I were both becoming very frustrated, but Cheryl kept her patience with him and managed to capture some shots when he wasn't having a little fit. I haven't seen all of the pics she took yet, but these are some she posted for a preview.

Easter 2009

Last week the boys celebrated Easter with my mom and dad since they were here for Jake's birthday, so we've been hunting eggs all week. They both had Easter egg hunts at their schools and Saturday we went to Jacksonport for the annual egg hunt. Will moved to the "big kid" category and I wasn't allowed to help him hunt for eggs, but I had my hands full helping Jake. After the egg hunt, Will went home with Miller and they had fun dying Easter eggs at his house. Sunday we went to church with Billy's parents and had a nice lunch with them afterwards (Ginker makes the BEST chicken and dressing I've ever tasted!!) Since the weather was yucky, they settled for hunting eggs inside at Ginker's house. Here are a few pics from all the festivities...

Will's Big News

Will lost his first tooth this week (and three others are loose)! I can't believe he is old enough for this to start happening! I had a milestone, too...I pulled it! I NEVER pulled any of my own teeth, but I did it for Will because he thought Billy would be too rough. It was really loose, so it just took a little jerk. Will was so excited to go to bed that night and woke up extra early (6:00 am) to find out what the tooth fairy left him.
