Christmas 2009

I'm still determined to catch up on blogging. I know I said this 2 months ago, but this time, I'm serious...promise. Some have said that I should just pick up where we are and forget about trying to go back and blog about past events, and I may decide to do that if I can't get caught up soon. Anyway, here it goes...

He got the things he asked for such as an easel, St. Louis Cardinal "stuff", a horse stable for his ranch among many other things.

The train table wouldn't fit under the tree, so it was the first thing he saw when he came out of his room. He was still in shock that Santa brought it to him when I snapped this shot.

Finally...he likes listening to stories!!

Sometime in the fall, it became much easier to get Jake to sit down and listen to a story. He used to always bring me a book to read (or I would pick one out to read) and when we sat down to read it, he would let me read one page before saying, "All done!" while slamming the book shut. He didn't have the longest attention span, but that improved with age like I knew it would. Now he will listen to as many books as I will read to him and he loves to retell the stories in his own words when we finish. I think he does that because he sees Will read his take-home book from school every night, and he wants to think that he is reading to me like Will does. He also enjoys listening to the stories that Will brings home to read, and Will is happy to read to him. It is so cute to see my two boys cuddled up in one of their beds or on the couch reading. It just melts my heart because I know it won't be long before they are too "grown" to do that sort of thing. I need to get a picture of that soon and then I can share the "cuteness"!

Long Time, No Blog

Since I haven't posted since HALLOWEEN, I guess it's time to try to catch up. Facebook is really spoiling me. I usually upload pics on that site and don't have to take the time to write anything, but I have family members that aren't on Facebook that have begun to wonder if I have given up blogging. I am going to try to do a better job with staying on top of it and I will post something every couple of days until I get it up-to-date. WARNING: If you are on Facebook, the pictures will be the same...so it might get a little boring!

This year Will wanted to dress like his favorite baseball player, Albert Pujols. Jake overheard us talking about it and said he wanted to be Albert, too. Jake really looks up to Will and wants to do EVERYTHING he does. It is so cute!

Life Lately

These pics are in reverse order AGAIN! I can't figure out why I can't click and drag them like I used to. If anyone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Anyway, life lately has been very busy. I am almost finished with my masters degree and will feel like I have my life back when it's completed...only 8 weeks to go!! Maybe I'll be a better blogger in the new year. For now, I'll have to do a quick recap of the past couple of months...

Jake will finally pose for the camera instead of running from it. Maybe Christmas card pictures won't be so horrible this year. But, I seriously doubt it. That would make my life too easy! =)

Another milestone was reached at the beginning of this month. For the first time in six years, I no longer have a baby bed in my house. Jake is sleeping a "big boy" bed, which is actually a toddler bed. It suits him perfectly for now, but I'm sure he will outgrow it soon. This boy is growing like a weed! I want to get bunk beds for his room eventually, but I am afraid he is still a little to small for climbing up to the top bunk.

We've spent lots of time at football games. This family is full of die hard Newport Greyhound and stAte Red Wolf fans.

I had my 15 year high school reunion this month, also. Man, I'm getting old! I had a great time catching up with some old and dear friends.

Nana treated us to a Disney Live show in Jonesboro. The boys loved it! Jake is already asking when we can see Mickey Mouse again. I guess we will be going to Disney World before too long!

Will's Party!!

Will had his 6th birthday party at Pump It Up in Jonesboro...easiest party he's ever had! I didn't have to do anything except bring the cake. He had a great time and I think all of the other kiddos did, too. Jake loved it just as much as the big guys. You can see him in the background of the first picture heading up the monstrous slide.

While opening gifts at Pump It Up, the birthday boy or girl gets to sit on this huge throne shown above. When Will kept insisting that we have his party at this place, I told him I could rent a bounce house and we could have the party in Newport where it would be more convenient for his friends. Then, he informed me that he wouldn't get to sit on the throne. So what's a mom to do??? By all means, let's sit on the throne!!

Will Is 6!

I didn't get this post on here on his actual birthday since it took 10 minutes to load each of my catch up posts, but I was determined to get this on here before I went to bed. I will be paying for that in the morning!! We celebrated his birthday earlier tonight with Ginker and Coach. Will got to pick where we went to eat (of course, he picked US Pizza...he is his mother's son) and then we came back home to have cake and open presents. His actual party will be this weekend at Pump It Up in Jonesboro. Hopefully, I'll keep up with the blog and have more pics to share this weekend from the party.

Jake kept saying that is was his birthday everytime someone mentioned Will's birthday. I'm glad he had some presents to open, too, or he would have really been disappointed on his "birthday"!

This is a pitiful cake, I know, but it's what he wanted for his "at home" birthday cake. He put the candles on it himself and didn't want me to try to decorate it in anyway which is probably a good thing!!

Some things I want to remember about Will at this age:

-He still loves his momma! He loves to cuddle and loves to just sit by me and watch TV or read books.

-Even though he's a cuddler at home, in public it's a different story. He recently quit letting me hold his hand when we cross the parking lot at stores. Everytime he pulls his hand out of mine, I feel like my baby is slipping away and becoming too independent. But, I guess that's what parenting is really about...raising our children to become independent. So, I will try my best to let him grow...and not smother him to death with my overprotectiveness. Is that even a word??

-He loves sports! He's definitely a Keedy! He knows more players on the Cardinals team than his dad and calls his dad with play by play updates if he is not home to watch the games.

-He will sleep in his own bed and lay down by himself, but he doesn't like it. He was doing good until Michael Jackson died and seeing pictures of him on the news back in June still haunts him.

He thinks he was a monster, and it's not because of Thriller. He's thinking about how he looked after all the plastic surgery.

-He loves to learn, especially anything dealing with numbers.

-He is a wonderful big brother most of the time. He is so patient with Jake and will not hit Jake even if Jake hits him. In fact, when Jake tries to bite him, we've told him to try to bite Jake back but he will not do it. I'm glad he was the first born because I'm quite certain that Jake wouldn't have been as good of a big brother.

-He hates to clean up and is a very messy kid! This is the source of most of our disagreements!!

-He is a very well-behaved child in public (and most of the time at home, except for the mess thing) and always has been-- except for the first four months of his life. He is very much a "pleaser" and comes by that honestly. He also always thinks he's right and is a little bossy at times...he comes by that honestly, too! =)

-He has an awesome memory. It's spooky sometimes. He'll say remember that time when I was 2 and we went to blah, blah, blah... and we really will have done what he is talking about and it's not something that he's seen in pictures.

-He admires his daddy more than anyone and wants to be just like him. It's so sweet!! I love hearing him tell things about "my daddy" to other kids.

-He adores his grandparents (both sets) and would probably choose to live with them if given the chance. LOL!!
